Après deux participations au match des étoiles de la Ligue américaine de hockey à ses deux premières saisons chez les professionnelles, après un rappel de deux matchs chez les Blue Jackets de Columbus, cette saison, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault a été nommé sur la première équipe d’étoiles de la LAH, jeudi.

L’ancien des Remparts de Québec a jusqu’à présent amassé 63 points en 68 parties chez les Falcons de Springfield, ce qui lui vaut le quatrième rang des marqueurs du circuit.

Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Left Wing (Springfield Falcons): The third-leading scorer among AHL rookies last season, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault signed with Columbus in the offseason and has matched his success in 2012-13, notching 63 points in 68 games and helping Springfield to its first playoff berth in a decade. The 22-year-old Quebec City native was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Month of January after posting 17 points in 12 games, appearing in his second consecutive AHL All-Star Classic and making his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets.

About three weeks ago one of our long-time corporate partners, Ted Hebert from Teddy Bear Pools, asked me if there was any way that he could bring two kids down to meet Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, who is their favorite player. I told Ted to stop by the office with the kids after the Sunday afternoon game. Mom, Dad and the two kids waited and Jonathan came out of the dressing room and spent some time with the kids. He posed for pictures, signed everything they had and, as he was getting ready to go back in the dressing room, the young girl asked if she could have a hug.

... The Falcons’ Jonathan Audy-Marchessault added the extraordinary element, as his dazzling spin-o-rama shootout move won the first game for Springfield and checked in at No. 3 on ESPN SportCenter’s top-10 plays for March 1.

Audy-Marchessault skated in on the right post, cut to the left, and then spun around and snapped the puck just past the pad of Phantoms’ goalie Cal Heeter for the only score in the shootout.
