OT Loss in Game Six in Norfolk Ends Whale's Season via CT Whale

Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, who got the last touch on the puck, was credited with the goal.

Then, the best chance of a scoreless second period came at 10:10, when Audy-Marchessault was awarded a penalty shot after he was hooked while working his way past the Admiral defense.  Janus, though, came up with a glove save on Audy-Marchessault’s penalty shot bid.

Whale Even Series with 4-1 Win over Norfolk via CT Whale

Jonathan Audy-Marchessault gave the Whale the first lead of the game late in the first period, wristing a shot through the legs of Norfolk goaltender Dustin Tokarski (21 saves) with under a minute to play in the opening frame. The goal was Audy-Marchessault’s third of the postseason, with assists going to linemates Kris Newbury and Andre Deveaux.

The Whale then responded with two goals in 12 seconds, starting with the second of the postseason for Audy-Marchessault at 8:18.  Tim Erixon kept the puck in the offensive zone near the left-wing boards and threaded a pass to an unguarded Audy-Marchessault to the right of Tokarski.  Tokarski stopped Audy-Marchessault’s first bid, but the Whale rookie was able to lift his own rebound into the net.

Celui qui a passé quatre saisons à Québec dans l’uniforme des Remparts ne savait pas trop à quoi s’attendre lorsque l’organisation des Rangers lui a attribué un contrat d’une saison en juin dernier. Mais au terme de quelques jours d’adaptation, Audy-Marchessault a impressionné, devenant ni plus ni moins que le meilleur marqueur de son équipe - à égalité avec Kris Newbury.

Whale Lose in Shootout in Regular Season Finale via CT Whale

The Whale finally solved Tarkki at 11:48 of the second period, as Crunch scoring leader Patrick Maroon was unable to convert on a shorthanded chance and Kris Newbury and Audy-Marchessault broke in on a two-on-one.  Newbury sent a pass to Audy-Marchessault to the left of the goalmouth, and Audy-Marchessault appeared to miss partially on his shot, but he put it perfectly over Tarkki’s stick-side arm for Audy-Marchessault’s 24th goal of the season.
